The Met's Florencia en El Amazonas
with puppets by The Chicago Puppet Studio, coming to a theater near you this Saturday, December 9th and Wednesday, December 13th!
Right now, the work of the Chicago Puppet Studio graces the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in Director Mary Zimmerman’s “Florencia en El Amazonas.” While you may not be able to travel to New York to see this beautiful work in person, on Saturday, December 9th it will be broadcast LIVE to movie theaters around the world—and rebroadcast on December 13th, 2023.
To our delight, during intermission Chicago Puppet Studio Co-Directors Tom Lee & Blair Thomas will be interviewed Live from backstage about their artistic process!
This is all thanks to the Met’s award-winning series of live movie theater transmissions. Thousands of venues in more than 50 countries around the world participate in The Met: Live in HD. 15 Chicagoland theaters will be showing the opera, including Chicago, Schaumburg, Orland Park, Mount Prospect, Addison, Woodridge, Niles, Vernon Hills, Schererville, and others. We hope you make it out to see the Chicago Puppet Studio team’s work, Tom’s puppeteering Live, and the special intermission interview with Blair and Tom.
