Summer 2026 Puppetry Workshop:
Making Reed Lantern Puppets (Level 1) with Grace Needlman
Making Reed Lantern Puppets (Level 1) with Grace Needlman
Learn to make lantern puppets out of reed and join our community parade at next winter’s Festival. Reed is a fantastically flexible material for creating lightweight sculptures which can become puppets, masks, lanterns, kites, and more. This introductory class will cover basic techniques for building 3D forms with reed. You will learn to bend, fasten, and cover small-diameter reed using only your own hands, string, glue, and paper. Create your own reed lantern puppet and mark your calendars for our community event as part of the January 2027 Festival.
